i was watching snow geese flying around when i was able to pick out a few hanging out together that were a little diffrent: Ross's
(coots on the left)
this was just one of the many spots I saw A. coots they were everywhere I went in North central Cal

saw a group of at least 5 here and leaving the park saw one more crossing on land between waterways at sunset

quite a few groups spread out in this area of the marsh
sun was setting, about 55 degrees

This was a juvenile. It was first spotted from the road, while it was on the ground. When we stopped it flew into a tree. As I got out of the car it flew away and soared high into the sky.

a group of them were on the other side of the reeds

Saw small groups and individuals throughout the marsh

a female, was dark brown, was out in the open flying/ landing
10:38pm
saw a ton of these but only here, actually a little south of this spot but along the highway
saw a few beside freeway
3:52pm
this guy was awake, two more were off to the side a little lower in the reeds sleeping

also saw a bunch at stone lakes WR
