Albino ground squirrel!
This is a staghorn sculpin. See those little chunky things sticking out of its gill covers? It sticks them out to choke things that try to swallow it. I tried, and I choked, and the fish laughed. You know this is a lie because fish cannot laugh.
For a fish.
This fish was sneering!
I have no idea what this plant is. Not even a family! All I know is that it's not Salicornia. Halp! Observed near a former salt pond in Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge, Alviso, CA.
Actually it's called saltgrass.
There were lots of these, weirdly. I counted 10 for this park.
In exactly the same field as last year.
This was kind of awesome: I heard a screeching and saw this kestrel struggling to subdue a starling. The starling was too big though, so the the pair of them were sort of just sliding down the roof of a house. Eventually the starling won free.
