Yellow Warbler

Setophaga petechia

Summary 3

L 5” Wt. 0.3oz
Description: The Yellow Warbler is an all yellow warbler with faint red streaks on the male’s breast. They have a short tail and long body and are one of the easiest warblers to identify. Males have a “sweet, sweet, I’m so sweet call.”

Habitat: Shrubby woods and thickets
Fun Facts: Brown headed cowbirds will sometimes lay their eggs in Yellow Warblers nests. The Yellow Warblers will go ahead and build a new nest on top of the old one so the cowbird egg can’t incubate.
