Whether your visit to the Kaibab National Forest takes you north or south of the Grand Canyon, the variety of bird species as phenomenal. As part of the Colorado Plateau ecosystem adjacent to the Grand Canyon, the Kaibab National Forest is uniquely situated and provides a diversity of habitat types. From desert scrub of Snake Gulch to the spruce-fir lined parks of the high elevation North Kaibab Plateau, “birding” on the remote North Kaibab Ranger District is both challenging and rewarding to the most avid enthusiast. The South Kaibab Ranger District also holds equally rewarding opportunities for birdwatching. The Mogollon Rim, which extends from New Mexico into north central Arizona, terminates on the Williams Ranger District. Numerous mountains and canyons provide habitat features and vegetation types for myriad a bird species.
