Mueller State Park preserves an area of semi-wilderness within a short drive of one of Colorado’s largest metropolitan areas – Colorado Springs. The park is located on the western flank of Pike’s Peak, at elevations between 8900-9800 feet. Mueller is comprised of 5,121 acres of land, owned by the State of Colorado. This makes Mueller one of the largest state-owned parks in the system. Most of the park is covered in Engelmann spruce/Douglas-fir forest, interspersed with stands of aspen, rolling montane grasslands, and granite outcrops.
