Ruby-crowned Kinglet (Regulus calendula)
21 November 2015: While on the Bittern Marsh Trail we encountered a Ruby-crowned Kinglet (Regulus calendula) flitting about and feeding in the underbrush. This is the first time we document and post an iNat observation of Ruby-crowned Kinglet at LLELA. LLELA is administered by a consortium comprised of the US Army Corps of Engineers, the City of Lewisville, Texas, the Lewisville Independent School District, and the University of North Texas.

Earlier in the week we were alerted that this bird was in our area. This morning's hunt paid off. The bird was banded and a tracking device attached in Arkansas.
My very first in North Texas and I believe a first for LLELA! Woo Hoo! Christmas came early this year.
This one was feeding on carrion with a large number of American Black Vultures.
