We found this lovely butterfly in the shade of our hardwood bottomland forest. Have not seen many of this kind -- although we have tiger swallowtails ALL over.
Very large fly (~1 in).
This is the reddest red dragonfly I've ever seen. What a striking shade of red that is!
Creepy fly. (lol) Large, the size of a paper wasp.

It is sitting on a thimbleberry leaf. It was cool out.
