July and the Arran Coastal Path

Reading my journal may suggest I have 'a thing' about coastal paths; no but, I do about Arran. This is probably one of my favourite places and the planned walks around the coast (not all of it) will be a joy.
Merganser and Grey Seals the highlights of Day 1.

Last part of our walk around the Wirral Coastal Path - If you ever visit the North West of England, it is a very enjoyable walk.

June Catch-up

One of the problems isn't taking images or noting where they were taken, it's finding time to upload them. Well here we are in August and I'm trying to catch-up with June's observations. Two days walks, one near home and the other "over the water" on the Wirral. Still not caught up but watch this space.

May 13th 2012 Wirral Circular Trail

Weather on our side as we walked the Port Sunlight to Hooton section of the Trail.
Another good day for plants, as you can see. Bromborough Pool Village & Port Sunlight Village are well worth the visit; linked with Price's Patent Candle Company and the Lever Factory respectively. Eastham Country Park is a wildlife haven with oh so many grey squirrels.

6th May 2012 Fairy Glen

An enjoyable walk with Grandson in Fairy Glen. Someone had sprinkled "Fairy Dust" along the footpaths in the wood and near the stream (River Tawd) Jack loved it. I do love this time of year with the many flowers, noise of the running water and birds in full song. Help with the flower we have tried to identify many times, will be appreciated.

Wirral Coastal Path

A cold sunny day to walk the section from Hoylake to New Brighton. Five pleasing observations. Looking forward to completing the rest of the coastal path in the not to distant future.

Grand National walk

Walked along the Leeds Liverpool Canal to try to see the horses as they take part in the Grand National.
Usual duck etc.you would expect to see on the canal plus the four you can see I captured on camera. Lots of Coots and Moorhens.
Just failed to capture a Water Vole (Arvicola amphibius) on camera. He/she was resting on waste at the canals edge.

A week in the forest and surrounding area

Had a great week in Sherwood Forest in a cabin. Surrounded by wildlife and with the family. managed to capture a range of plants, insects and animals.
Looking after a 2yr old Grandson prevents the usual observations but great fun.
Will have to revisit.

Maghull-Town Green- Aughton- Maghull

After a grey day yesterday, the sun is back out and, although cold, a beautiful day for a walk.
Usual problem with capturing photographs but, unlucky for some, 13 observations.
Walk took us down Millbank Lane and onto Brookfield Lane heading towards Aughton. After Spring Farm we took the footpath to cross the railway and onto Mickering Lane. Another footpath took us through to Town Green Station where we headed past Aughton Village Hall and across the fields to St Michael's Church on Aughton.
Footpaths acroos the A59, across the fields below West Tower Hotel and onto Back Lane.
Heading straight on rather than turning onto Swan Lane we took footpaths back to the A59 and to Hartley's Nursery for refreshments.
Continuing across fields to Millbank Lane and home.
