Description

Natural black sage-white sage hybrid at the LandUse Learning Center demonstration garden. Leaves and flowers look like a cross between the two. Even the smell is sweeter than black sage and more pungent than white sage - a cross! It is growing up through several white sage plants, about 10 feet from the closest black sage. When flowering it is more than 6 feet tall.

Looks like most people are using this as the observation date. What was the intended use case?

Posted by loarie almost 8 years ago

As I wrote in the description, "First time you saw this if it's a repeat sighting," e.g. if you're tracking a butterfly from egg to larva to pupa to adult, but of course, no one is using it that way. If you can't find any projects that are using it for its intended purpose I'd support deleting it.

Could there be some sort of bug where this is automatically recorded with the iPhone app? I'm finding several observations where the original sighting time is AFTER the observation time.

I suspect it's just my worst enemy: projects. This is a pretty pointless field. I suspect most people interpret it as some kind of duplicate of the existing "observed on" date field. As stated above, I'm fine deleting it if no one is actually using it for its intended purpose. Maybe I'll just rename it.
