Photos / SoundsWhatWestern Ribbon Snake (Thamnophis proximus)Observerkwtx66DescriptionRibbon snake, approximately 3 to 4 feet in length, observed resting in a sunny vegetated spot alongside a footpath about 10 feet from a small creek that runs through forested green-space. When pursued, the snake disappeared quickly into nearby brush. It was later seen resting in exactly the same spot. Two versions of the same original image are provided, with the zoomed-in version showing the specimen in some detail. |

WhatThree-toed Box Turtle (Terrapene carolina ssp. triunguis)ObservercurtishDescriptionLarge three-toed box turtle sitting in the middle of FM 2611 about 0.5 miles from intersection with FM 457. This is a little north of Sargent, TX. Turtle was trying to cross the road and head north into another pasture, but traffic had him stalled out in the roadway. I moved the turtle over to the ditch. Didn't take a photo because traffic was coming (no shoulder on this road). |
