I think you'll find that we have a subspecies here on the SF Peninsula.
I had been told, albeit a long time ago, that these two terms were interchangeable (Mule Deer, Black-tailed Deer). Is this not the case?
They are interchangeable terms for us 'normal' but some scientists prefer to be very specific regarding regional differences as opposed to the general population of a species. Am I making sense? I also had posted Mule deer observations and was corrected from O.hemionus to O.h.columbianus
Ok. I actually think Black-tailed Deer is an easier, and more appropriate, name to remember. So I'll stick with that. Thanks for the clarification
