The most common barley of this size is H. murinum (H. leporinum in older books), commonly called Farmer's Foxtail. If you key it out as something else I would love to know.

Tried the key, but can't make out the hairiness of the glumes or any membranous lobes at the base of the leaves in the photo. Perhaps some day I will learn my grasses.
