Description
Large orange spider, said by locals to be poisonous. I found it living amongst a grove of Bananas.
I love the second photo where you can see that it's a machete of some sort. Great photo alone aside from it being an observation! I wish I could find spiders like this! Or maybe I don't!
I'm going to go out on a limb with Cupiennius. That would make it a Wandering Spider. Certainly, wandering spiders are known to be highly venomous (all spiders are venomous, but these are dangerous). It looks similar to C. getazi, but not exactly the same, so I'm not sure. It may be a lookalike, rather than an actual wandering spider.
Thanks for the comment. I have seen wandering spiders in this area. In fact, I was chased by one once. Most of the ones I saw were darker brown, and when they weren't walking they would align pairs of legs. I've seen photos of orange ones as well on the internet.
