Most solanaceae are no native Europeans, so I can't say much about this family. But S. hindsianum is a native Californian, and resembles these flowers I think...

The Jepson Manual desn't mention "Solanum hindsianum" while the "Solanum umbelliferum" is quite common in "Las Trampas" reserve.

Thanks, folks. Just looked at the key, I think folini got it. I sort of only just realized there were solanums other than blue-witch nightshade, so now I'll have to be a bit more conservative in the field until I learn some more...
