Growing in humid woods after recent rainfall. Max <1.75 in width. Also saw dark brown in the area.

What was the surface like? textured or smooth, 1.75 in width what unit of measure were you using. If this is cm then its to big to be Lycogala epidendrum.

myxonz...the observation was made some time ago so I was approximating the size at being under 1.75 cm. Not too far out of the ballpark. I would venture that most of them were about a centimeter in diameter with a few larger ones. Also if I remember correctly the surface was rather smooth.
