Boo! Just in time for Halloween, found this Ghost Flower, on a trail in Maple Park.
Ghost flowers don't have any chlorophyll-- they feed off fungus that feed off trees.
Plenty of pawpaw fruits could be found on the Supplejack Trail in the Dismal Swamp State Park.
I can also report that they were DELICIOUS!

Saw an alligator (and a painted turtle) sunning themselves on logs off of the yellow canoe trail in Merchant's Millpond State Park
A pair of bald eagles were circling above Merchant's Millpond State Park
Saw two Canadian geese nests while canoeing at Merchant's Millpond State Park-- one on top of a Beaver dam and one in an old bald cypress tree.
Saw a number of beaver dams, beaver chewed trees and one swimming beaver (sorry about the blurry picture) at Merchant's Millpond State Park
Lots of Spanish Moss hung on the Baldcypress trees in Merchant's Millpond State Park
A pretty plumb brown thrasher hung out in a bush on Hunter Street in Elizabeth City North Carolina
Saw a turkey vulture circling overheard on the Lassiter Trail near the Longleaf Pine Forest
Black Vulture at around Mile Marker 1 on the Lassiter Trail at Merchant Millpond State Park. It was a little miffed and spread its wings to try to intimidate us.

There wasn't much mistletoe on the trees around Fun Junktion at all. I spotted one lone occurence.
On the swamps west of the pond at Fun Junktion, there is a bald cypress swamp.
Spotted a sycamore tree at Fun Junktion. It still had balls hanging from its branches.
Beautiful sweet gum with its winged twigs and distinctive dangling balls are prevalent on the walking trail at Fun Junktion. Some trees were growing in the water.
February 14, 2009 there were plenty of red maples in bloom on along the side of the pond at Fun Junktion
At the end of the Recreation Trail at the Newbold-White House in Hertford, NC, there is a Bald Cypress Swamp with plenty of accompanying Spanish Moss
Off of the Camden County Jeep Trail on the far side of the canal, trees hosted Spanish Moss.
On the Sunset Loop Trail on Peter Island in the British Virgin Islands. I believe it was female. We got to watch it hunt and feed.
Saw this cute little bird off the History Trail at Appomattox Court House National Park. It had yellow markings on its tail and its breast.
