I called pet stores in the area and confirmed they do not and have not ever sold these geckos. I contacted the Herp Dept at San Diego Natural History Museum and was told the gecko was most likely shipped in with plants from another region. Perhaps he is also a born native invasive gecko. Found on the wall of the restaurant at night by the lights waiting for bugs attracted to the light.
