Darted across the trail too quickly for a photie.
Saw these up near El Sombroso in Sierra Azul today. We're thinking ladybug eggs but maybe a slime mold?
Out hiking with my daughter. She loves looking for galls, since this one had what we thought was an exit hole we brought it home to analyze but were surprised to find a young wasp inside.
Dead on the side of the trail. Was about 4-5 inches long so I'll go with Coast Mole rather than Townsend's. A friend later suggested Broad-footed.
Found these on the way to Mt. Whitney from Crabtree Lakes
Couldn't find Zombie Skunk so settled on Striped.
Flew right past my window at the trader's hotel. No pics unfortunately.
Saw a couple at the end of the runway on approach.
On the trail to White Mountain Peak at about 12,500'
Tons of marmots on the way to the summit
My first sighting of this flower. Found a small group at about 13850 feet on the approach to the summit of White Mountain Peak
Found this single one while fishing Hidden Lake
I think there's perhaps four of them out here, maybe adults with a couple of young ones.
Just noticed in some other pics that this one has been banded so someone must be studying this group.
Saw the female in the backyard
Found two groups of these on Barlow road growing in mossy soil alongside saxifrage in both locations.
