My friend Ricardo spotted this turtle at Luckiamute State Natural Area, north of Corvallis. The Oregon Parks and Rec Dept. is trying to determine whether this is a painted turtle or a red-eared slider. Please comment if you can help!
Widely distributed in a mossy area under evergreens
Growing on a decaying log
Very pale chanterelles found in the hollow of a tree with very little light.
Blue-staining slippery jack -- I'm pretty sure that's what this was. The blue staining was quick and very impressive.
Lobster mushrooms at Cape Mountain
Mysterious bug that landed on my knee at Tamolitch Pool on the McKenzie River Trail.
Purple lupines blooming on the ashy slopes of Mt. Hood in September -- gorgeous!
one western pond turtle basking on a log in the Western Pond at Luckiamute State Natural Area
on land/swimming along shore of Clear Lake
Found on Lower Dan's Trail in McDonald Forest
sitting on a fern by the side of the Old Growth Trail in McDonald Forest
Second trip to Peavy Arboretum and both times I've seen a banana slug!
Spotted in a parking lot in Corvallis
At Peavy Arboretum near the forestry building
I'm not sure this is a rough-skinned newt; maybe too red?
spotted on the 36 Loop Trail at Peavy Arboretum
Growing along the sides of the Section 36 Loop Trail at Peavy Arboretum
growing at Finley Refuge in Corvallis
saw many of them floating in a pond at Finley Refuge in Corvallis; glad I didn't eat one since apparently they're quite toxic
