Description

Climbing liana on edge of small beech pocket close to Cass Mountain Research Area. Transition from beech forest to shrubland with specimen climbing well overhead. Very prickly species which are red on stem and underside of leaves (although less prominent).Leaflets hairless and digitately arranged. Leaflets are coriaceous, toothed, and narrow although very variable. Not yet ripe aggregate fruit, which is very hard.

Description

Possibly Epilobium nerteroides. Creeping herb sheltered under Chionochloa tussock habitat that is very wet with due to water seepage. White adventitous roots on a red creeping stem. Corolla 4 bilobed petals with deep notch. Inferior ovary that varies considerably in length on individual flowers. Opposite leaves elliptic to ovate with red blotches/pigment.

Description

Herb approx. 12cm tall in a sheltered rocky habitat on edge of a small beech forest with also Dracophyllum sp., Coriaria sp., Gaultheria crassa, and abundant sphagnum moss. Leaves sessile, glabrous, 3 lobed, and decussate leaf arrangement. Zygomorphic flowers in four parts with superior ovary.

Decumbent to slightly erect shrub growing in a semi open site on edge of beech forest. Glaucous leaves with red margins. Leaves glabrous and obovate. Sinus is absent or maybe very small and acute (last image).Pedicel is sometimes absent (sessile) but more often short suggesting possible misidentification.

Compact rossette herb with taproot growing in an open grass site adjacent to a small beech forest. Colour morphs appearing next to each other in population. Scabrid leaves that are palmately lobed and hairy (as is calyx).

Growing in open dry bog site that transitions to small statured shrubland of mostly Leptospermum scoparium and Dracophyllum sp. Glabrous orchid with channelled and ribbed often solitary leaf. 30cm pedicell (stiff) with stripped petals. Fruit hard.
