Approx 1 cm diam growths at the nodes of a young oak tree. There was a small hole in each approx 1 mm in diam.
Some larger oak trees nearby had larger but similar growths. These were 5-8 cm in diameter. I couldn't get a good picture of those.
As I research, it appears to be galls? Are these outgrowths of the tree itself in reaction to an insect?

Two bald eagles perched at the top of the lone tree in the Chambers Bay Golf Course. This was around noon.
