This guy wasn't that afraid of us, hanging out on a hot spring day in the Dominguez Escalante wilderness area near Grand Junction, CO.
Thought this was really neat-- the peak of aspen colors with lupine blooming at the same time!
These are an unbelievable scarlet color, and you find them only at very high elevations-- probably 11,000 ft and higher...
These guys come out at mid-elevations, just after the peak of wildflower season in the Elk Mountains of central Colorado! I can't wait for summer to see them again...
