Red Breasted Nuthatch I spotted while hiking through a sparse forest. I saw these birds on both Echo Ridge and on the other side of Lake chelan at Pot Peak.

Seen early morning, temperature about 5 C (41F). Elevation about 1400 meters (4600 feet)

Camel cricket (Family Gryllacrididae) - thanks to Barbara (and Fool on the Hill) for ID help, greatly appreciated. I originally thought this was a Jerusalem cricket (Stenopelmatus family)

Description

Mule deer (Odocoileus hemionus) showdown, west side of Lake Chelan, Washington. It was interesting to observe observe two younger bucks that were skirmishing. When the dominant buck showed up, they backed away.
