I saw 5 of the huge tree squirrels along the Jordan River in Salt Lake City. I've lived here for decades, and never seen a Fox Squirrel in Utah. They are not native here,so I assume an introduced exotic, but they seem to be established,at least in this neighbourhood. I felt there presence here should be documented somehow.
A bat was flying around about an hour before sunset over a creek, then landed on a tree. It had very long ears,so I think its a Long-eared Myotis
Small weasel hunting chipmunks in the bushes around my camp. Had a all white belly, making it a Short-tailed Weasel, which are uncommon and only found at high elevations this far south. This was in a mixed Spruce-Fir and Aspen forest at about 10,000 feet in the La Sal Mountains.
