What
Black Cherry (Prunus serotina)Observer
drluzDescription
Tentative identification mainly based on the bark and brown hairs on the leaf underside along the midrib. I don't see the small paired glands that I would expect on the petiole, and more importantly, I have never seen this tree flower. It's in a very mixed piece of woodland (pine, chestnut, birch, oak, some invasives and garden escapes from ruined farms)

Black/white/irridescent moth looking like a Zygaenid on an inflorescence of flowers which looked similar to those of a sunshine wattle(!). I think the moth may be Amata kuhlweini, and the plant may be Brunia noduliflora but if not, I have no idea whether either or both species are actually aliens: they were in a cleared and regenerating patch of fynbos in the Agulhas plain area of the Western Cape. Location given on the map is approximate. All I remember is that it was to the right off the route between Agulhas Point and Hermanus but the clearing project was associated with the Flower Valley conservation trust.
I'd also love to know what the plant species is :-)
