This bracket fungi is Maroon -red and varnished (shiney. It is a bracket (shelf like growth habit). It is a polypore fungi (its underside is white and his pores where the spores exit. Top is red varnished with brown spore coating. Very beautiful. Medicinal mushroom. This is an annual fungi.

Description

This neat fungi was found growing shelflike on a down conifer stump. It's cap was 4 cm broad, leathery, dry, and had concentric rings of dark browns with a lighter ring at the margin (new growth lighter than old). The bottom of the fungi was lined with light brown gills that darkened with age.

Description

This fungi appeared emerging from forest duff, as a "mushrump", with debri on its cap. White gills, white stem, and white cap with minimal brown discoloration. This Russula was very spicy/acrid. Stem breaks cleanly like chalk- a Russula quality.
