Tree Ruffle Liverwort (Porella navicularis)Observer

Found in the Capital Forest area in the outskirts of Olympia, WA. Found on a small broken log near a Acer Macrophyllum. I also found it on the tree near by. Most of the area had recently been logged. The liverwort was dark green in color and shiny, and had a spreading mat. Pinnately branched.

Color is a dark green. Next to an abundance of forestry. The tree is approximately 11 feet high and has very stiff needles, almost to pokey to touch. Also has what looks like paper comes on the tips on the lower branches.

Found in the evergreen forest in a densely forested area. Located on a moist log log approximately 2 feet long and laid over 90% of the log. Light green in color and approximately 1/2 inch across.

Light yellow-green in color, found hanging on small branches on a tree located in the evergreen forest. Somewhat stiff in texture.

Large tree. Trunk has deep grooves. Needless are flat, and still had a few brown cones.

Small tree with small lobed leaves. Leaves multicolored due to seasonal change. Lobes palmately lobed and serrated edges.

Triangular shaped fern. Obviously deciduous because of its browning areas. Approx 2 feet tall. 2-3x pinnate. Found this loner approximately a 1 2/2 feet from probably 20 other close together.

4 feet tall. Leathery texture, leaves look very similar to holly. There are intensely serrated leaf edges. Very defined mid-vein.

Cascade Oregon-Grape (Berberis nervosa)Observer

Observed in the Evergreen State College forest next to five other identical plants. Leaves are opposite, 1 pinnea, evergreen, leather serrated and sharp. The base seems also to be "wooded" and looks as if there may be some new growth.
