This pine is regrowth within the Donner Fire burn area at Sagehen.
I suppose it's possible that this is actually a Ponderosa Pine, but this area was not replanted.

While the bears in Sagehen are wild and we hardly ever see them, sometimes we see our reintroduced cubs in the spring when there is too much snow for them to disperse yet.
Our only native trout, extirpated from Sagehen Creek by introduced brooks, browns and rainbows.
This one lives in the fishhouse channel and was raised in the Forest Service's office aquarium.
