At 3am the motion light on my garage in the back yard went on. I saw a coyote sprinting from the other side of our neighbors privacy fence that separates our back yards and down our driveway.
I ran to the front of the house, opened the front door and made noises to scare it off.
The neighborhood cats have successfully kept the night time critter population to a minimum so this was unexpected.
It seemed more like it was panicked and trapped than pursuing at hunt. I could see it being scared off, trying to get a direct route back to it's home and getting corralled in our back yards since we all have fences separating the back yards behind us. Two houses down, there are two houses in a row with dogs - which could have alerted and got it running. It just didn't appear to be chasing something as much as something was chasing it.

I have seen a flying squirrel about 5 times now in our tree. But with it being so dark, if I use a flash, all it does is show 2 reflective eyes.

When it left, it didn't know how to walk on top of the fence, so its left paws were on the top of the fence and its right paws were on the ledge. It was actually comical to watch

This little guy seemed to be a younger adult out on his own for the first time. He was maybe 5ft away from me when I stomped my feet and told him to go away.

The same younger lean coyote I saw last week popped up again. I was sitting outside having a cigarette with my back to the house and looking towards my backyard. I heard rustling in the brush next door. I figured it was a rabbit or raccoon. About 3-4 minutes later I hear the nails of an animal on the concrete driveway about 10 feet away and the coyote appeared. He was looking in the direction of the bird feeders (where the rabbits hang out) I stood up to run in the house, which scared him and he ran away.
