Snake was sunning on street. Observed a mockingbird hovering over and swooping down at snake.

Possible Eastern x black kingsnake as shown at http://srelherp.uga.edu/snakes/lamget.htm (bottom right picture). Note "broken chain-link" bands characteristic of E. Kingsnake, but also abnormal spotting between bands.
