We saw at least seven adults and four young Pika. We observed them from 7:03am through 10:02am in the talus slope where the Gaylor Lakes Trail first approaches one of the Gaylor Lakes. They were calling frequently the entire time we were there.

A pika was seen in this area repeatedly from 8:40am to 9:15am. It was a above the trail just after the point that the trail reached this talus slope. I only got some poor pictures with a cell phone to document it. Pika were heard in this general area from 7:45am through 9:30am.

Description

Heard first and then seen. Two adult pika and one young pika. At the base of a very large talus slope on the northwest corner of Shamrock Lake, next to a lot of nice green vegetation. Both adults were seen haystacking to different locations. The young pika was seen lower down on the slope. We watched these pike for 70 minutes, during which time they were active and calling most of the time.

Heard first and then seen. Two young pika seen in the rocks by the waterline of the southeast corner of Steelhead Lake. They were between the path and the lake, a small slope no more than 15 feet wide. When we hiked back by this location later at 11:55am we once again saw and heard two pika at this location.

Pika seen and heard on the talus slope north of the trail from the Tioga Pass Entrance gate of Yosemite to the east shore of Middle Gaylor Lake, just before you get to the lake. We saw one or two adults, and one or two young pikas (hard to say for sure as they were moving in and out of the rocks).
