Found this hatchling intergrade speckled/desert king snake in the driveway. We don’t really see them much anymore around here due to development so it’s nice to know there are still some breeding in the area.

Received a phone call from someone in Chalk Bluff, Texas. They found this in their backyard. It was released back where it was found. I’m not 100% positive which species it is as I am not big on salamander identification

My wife, son and I were burying in the perimeter of the new tortoise enclosure we built when my wife pointed and said “Look. There’s a snake.” Sure enough, she had spotted this beautiful Eastern Yellow Bellied Racer tucked away into the dirt clumps that we had placed there just two days earlier. I took some pictures and then gently moved her to the grass line about 10 feet away. That way she would not be in the way of my shovel. About an hour later, we got to the spot she was in and I started shoveling the dirt into the hole. With a scoop of dirt on my shovel, I noticed something roll out of the dirt pile and tumble right down in front of my foot. It was an egg. Apparently, she decided this would be a good spot for her nest. She had laid 20 eggs over a 12” x 20” area in 3 separate clutches. Thankfully, I know how to handle these eggs and we will go ahead and stick them in the incubator until they hatch and are ready to be released :)
