I initially believed this to be a chain pickerel, but the light vertical bars on an olive background with the rearward slanting dark undereye bar matched Scarola's photo and description. Seen lurking at the edge of a mill pond.

I watched this mink from a covered bridge for about 90 seconds, as it poked around the edge of the water. I've seen many minks in my time as a fly fishing guide. Much smaller than the otters resident to this stream, moves like a mustelid not a rodent (muskrat), mustelid body shape. These photos are from a cell phone, so are not great, but I was easily close enough to make an ID.
