Mourning Dove (Zenaida macroura)Observer
jdavidingramDescription
One of the remaining (originally there were two) Mourning Doves that are (were) regulars at our feeders this winter. We think that one of the cats next door (of which there are 8) may have killed one of them since there has only been one at the feeders for a number of weeks now. We're rooting for this bird and hope not to do any mourning of our own.

Steller Sea Lion (Eumetopias jubatus)Observer
jdavidingramDescription
Dead sea lion on the beach at Oyster Bay Regional Park on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. With the cold weather, the animal was still in pretty good shape (i.e. not starting to decay) but scavengers have definitely been at work on this animal. Two options - Stellar or California sea lion, couldn't tell since the animal was on it's back and I wasn't able to see the head.
