Description

This is the Papa Coyote. He is fierce and unafraid. Doesn't back down when I come out to the patio to observe him. He is hungry and would like to eat my two cats and my 15 year old lab.

Description

This is one of three coyote pups who are denning in the hillside behind my house along with the mother and the father. I"m letting them stay for a little while until they run out of figs because the drought has pushed them to desperate measures in terms of finding food and water.

Description

This female coyote is denning with her three pups just above my home in the heart of hollywood. My fence is down so I've got animals who come to eat the figs which are dropping from the Morton Bay tree on the steep hill behind my house. There's a shortage of food because of the drought. I was so startled I grabbed my phone as quickly as I could to snap this shot. She had already eaten the cushion a couple nights before which she must have used for her den. I just left her there and watched her. She was there for over an hour. This is my back patio. She was seemingly exhausted, and being a mother myself, I coudn't bring myself to disturb her in her brief respite from her energetic pups. When a fire truck roared by along Hollywood Boulevard, she got up and changed position, and then went back to sleep.
