On a hillside above a trail near Park City, Utah, I saw this fellow sunning himself in the sun. It was a warm day and he seem fairly relaxed.
Shell was about 8"-9" long
Local "expert" tells me this is an old male Western Painted Turtle. I am told that they are fairly common at Farmington Bay, where I saw this fellow.
Probably is a "freed" pet, as they are only native down in the southwest corner of Utah.
