I called the Santa Clara County health department to have it tested for the West Nile Virus. A short time later a guy from the county came to pick it up. A few hours later I received a phone call. The bird tested negative and did not have the West Nile Virus. What a relief. Well Kudos to the Santa Clara County Health Department. Those guys are really on the ball and doing a great job to protect the public health.
