Just a note to self. The only wild porcupine I've seen to date was roadkill on a heavily wooded stretch of route 50 in the Eldorado National Forest on this day (time and place approximate), on my first visit to the area.

Based on location, it's most likely a Mexican bush katydid (Scudderia mexicana) or fork-tailed bush katydid
But S. mexicana has a shorter body, and this clearly has the elongated body proportions of S. furcata.
Some kind of milkweed, abundant in Yosemite Valley meadows in summer.
