Mule deer at Bighorn Park on the hike to Mount Whitney. I believe the mule deer east of the Sierra crest in this area are subspecies Inyo Mule Deer (Odocoileus hemionus inyoensis). Or is it O. h. californicus here? Need to read up on if these two are physically distinguishable in the field.

[edit: I've seen little reference to an inyo subspecies recently - Laws predicts the Rocky Mountain subspecies in the eastern Sierra.]
