Five-petaled wildflower near a stream feeding Bishop Creek, above Long Lake on the Bishop Pass trail. Midsummer. Elevation around 3,100 m /10,300'.
Looks like a stink bug or beetle.
In fact, it's shaped like a stink bug in every sense, EXCEPT the flaring shape of the rear pair of legs. All the stink bug ID photos I've been looking at have spindly rears... hopefully this will help when I find the right taxon.
An alpine meadow flower on the trail to Lower Lamarck Lake in California's Sierra Nevada.
Trout in Lower Lamarck Lake, possibly the namesake Golden Trout of that wilderness area.
