kadavoorDescription
I found four owlflies attracted to the light in the evening. Two of them are eaten by common house gecko; collected the remaining two as my camera was not with me. This is the first time I am photographing captured specimens. Pic 1 and 2 are different views of specimen 1. Pic 3 is of other specimen, bigger than specimen 1. I think they are male and female. Captured on 29 September 2014 at Parappa, Kasaragod, Kerala, India.

kadavoorDescription
The Black Stream Glider or Indigo Dropwing (Trithemis festiva) is a tropical Asian species normally found at flowing streams with rock and gravel. Mature male Trithemis festiva are entirely dark (i.e. dark blue rather than black) overlaid with a fine whitish pruinescence. Young males look similar to females, sporting extensive yellow patches on their abdomen. In addition, females especially often have extensive dark patches at the wing tips.
T. festiva can be distinguished from I. limbata by having orange streaks on its abdomen.
