I don't know if I've got the right canyon marked, but it is in that area. This is said to be the southernmost location where redwoods grow naturally.

Description

These trees were planted in the late 1990s. I am surprised they have done so well, as hot as it gets here.

Trees died and were cut down in 2015.

Description

Location is on the branch of the Backbone Trail that has both trailheads off of Yerba Buena Road. (The westernmost trailhead is across the street from the Mishe Mokwa Trail.) This rock is probably less than a mile up the hill across the road from the place with the serious chain across the driveway. If you've been there, you know what I mean.
