I was greeted by four peacocks today at the Moore ranch. I did not make an observation last week due to the storm. The water level is higher than two weeks ago and the banks show indication of an extremely high stream flow with debris scattered high up all along the streams banks. In one area where there used to be a side channel from the main stream, a 60' stretch of the water is now covered by 10 inches of silt and gravel. The stream turbidity is also greater than that of a day previous during SARSAS training near the gauging station.

Saw the first of two what I would call Sacramento Suckers upstream from the dam site that migrate this time of the year to spawn. In the coming 6-8 weeks their numbers will increase to between 30-40.
More importantly further downstream I came upon a school of five(5)16"-18" fish that resembled trout or salmon in shape and girth but they had a dark stripe that ran the length of their body which would be similar to a bass.I'll need some help to ID these.
Stream continues to drop

Water level extremely low-probably the lowest I have seen for the past 12 months. By the looks of the debris moved around,it appears the brief storm that passed through the morning of 10/16/15 raised the water level temporarily by a foot, then settled back down.

AR has dropped a little from last week. 0 fish of any kind seen.Beaver activity continues. Tree that was 1/2 way gnawed through is now almost completly chewed out. Should be gone by next week. It will be interesting to see where this small tree ends up. I did not see any tracks or a place along the bank where this animal hauled himself out of the stream.

0 salmon. Stream is very low, allowing for large growths of algae or some other green substance to flourish on the water bed. Again observed school of approx 20,all in the 14" length of Sac Pike in the usual location of 250' above dam location. All of the five(5) schools I have seen over the past several weeks have been found here.

0 salmon. Stream continues to drop further. Observed my fourth different school of Sac Pike. These fish were different as they were all 14"-16" fish located 50 yards above Nelson dam. There were no large fish in this school as there were in the three others. After completing my walk downstream, on the way back upstream I noticed a large commotion in the water where this school was located. It was an otter chasing fish. I followed him for 10 minutes.Fun.

0 salmon observed. Stream level continues to drop. Observed a school of approx 20 Sac Pike about 250 ft. upstream from Nelson dam. I believe this school is different than previous schools as about 12 or so were in the 14" range while past schools contained entirely all much larger fish. This school did not move hardly at all-they pretty much just stayed bunched up.
