I keyed this to L. californicum in the field, but I don't think that's right. L. dasycarpum? This whole family throws me.

Description
Same mystery one I saw in Marin a few weeks ago. It seems to have the tuber-like base to the sporophyte like (I'm told) Phaoceros is supposed to have, but it's definitely way different than the ones without frilly leaves like this.

Description
Not sure. Brown on back, none of the blue or red of a kestrel, pits were sort if dark but not as dark as I've seen in others.
