Western Ribbon Snake (Thamnophis proximus)Observer

Ribbon snake, approximately 3 to 4 feet in length, observed resting in a sunny vegetated spot alongside a footpath about 10 feet from a small creek that runs through forested green-space. When pursued, the snake disappeared quickly into nearby brush. It was later seen resting in exactly the same spot. Two versions of the same original image are provided, with the zoomed-in version showing the specimen in some detail.
