This is the 'rock eel' that poke-polers at pillar point are after when they get eels in addition to monkey-faced eels. This poke poler claimed rock eels are sweeter.

Description

Every low tide I've been to at Pillar Point, there's at least one poke-poler pulling out these along with 'rock eels' to eat. Amazing to watch them pull decent sized eels out of the tiniest tidepools. Notice the fatty bumps on the face and the orange spots and fin edges
