This turtle was blind to we snorkelers on her left side where the tumor and the recently bitten off flipper was.
Snorkeling secret beach, makena area. This turtle was blind to me on the same side (left) as the tumor on her left eye. Her left front flipper was recently eaten or bitten off by some sort of predator. She went under the coral for a rest and put that left side under the coral so she could see with her right eye.
This large female has her shell covered with thick algae and is found in this area nestled under coral often.
I saw her head one day (not in these shots sadly) and it was entirely covered, both eyes with large tumors.
I hope to photograph her on another day.
