Description

Location/Ecology: under a white pine tree, emerging between pine needles. Mycorrizal. There was a second similar fruiting body near by.

Cap: cream/tan with white scales (volvar remains); diameter = 9.0 cm.

Gills: cream colored, free from stem

Total height: 15.0 cm

Stipe: white and shaggy towards bottom; length = 12 cm ; width = 1.5 cm

Description

Location: grassy area next to the sign on the path from the Sports Complex to the Science Center. Similar fruiting bodies around the same patch of grass (some older samples had darker gills).

Cap: convex, cream colored cap (diameter 5.5 cm)

Gills: pink, crowded gills; free from stipe

Stipe: white, stipe length 5.2 cm, stipe width 1.4 cm (whole specimen 6.3 cm in height)

Other features: remnants of a thin ring
