Meadow Vole (Microtus pennsylvanicus)

Description

The vole was found dead and his intestines were falling out if his stomach. It was a brown red color and was about six inches long. We found it on some weeds. The Audubon work said he thought it was killed by a bird then dropped. That would explain the intestines falling out

It was shaped like a dandelion
It was up to my knee in length
The flower was golden yellow, hence the name Goldenrods. The leaves and stem were dark green.
