Description

Ceyx madagascariensis, the Madagascar Pygmy Kingfisher, a non-fishing species of kingfisher, in Montagne d'Ambre National Park. Three of our group unwittingly walked straight past this little guy but one of us noticed him, and he flew straight over to me.

The largest male we observed. Colouration depicted is stress/display colouration. When un-disturbed, colour returned to matt green, but white lip and dorsolateral stripe remained.
